What happens when the Past, near-Past, and Present collide? It's 1935, and world-famous performer Jane Danvers is finally back in St. Louis. After more than a decade abroad, Jane has come back to the neighborhood to visit her family. However, she quickly realizes that there's an undeniable chasm between those who left and those who were left behind...plus there's the feeling of eyes on her that she just can't shake. Loosely based on the life of icon Josephine Baker, this draft of Capacity follows Jane as she navigates her present with her mother and the pasts she's running from.
A first draft of this play was presented as a reading at Sarah Lawrence College in Fall 2019
